Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Florida Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance per FL Statute 633.
- Florida Fire Service Instructor I per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.059.
- Florida Fire Officer I per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.065.
- Florida Certified Contract Manager or willing to obtain within one year from date of hire.
- Six (6) years of professional experience in fire suppression, fire prevention, firefighter training.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with the volunteer fire service.
Preferences:
- Florida Fire Instructor II certification per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.065.
- Bachelor's degree in fire service management, management, or fire science.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position is in Ocala, Florida and will be hired at an annual salary of $58,000.08.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of modern firefighting tactics and strategies
- Knowledge of modern educational techniques and online instructional learning management systems
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes, ordinances; regulations, applicable State Procurement Rules and Policy; programs, goals and purpose of the assigned department.
- Knowledge of methods of preparing and processing various records, reports, forms and other documents specific to the Bureau.
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply pertinent federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, and Division policies and procedures
- Ability to use computers effectively for word and data processing and records management for successful job performance
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and understand and execute written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports independently or from brief instructions.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Development and delivery of statewide online volunteer Firefighter Part I curriculum/volunteer firefighter training; coordinate firefighter training to obtain a Volunteer Firefighter Certificate of Completion pursuant to FL Statute 633.408; document training in the Division’s electronic database; serve as liaison between the Bureau and Florida’s volunteer fire departments, firefighters, and associations; prepare budgets and monitor expenditures of funds and performs data collection for legislative budget requests; prepares and submits reports to the Superintendent of the Florida State Fire College regarding the Bureau’s activities and prepares a variety of other reports as appropriate including the annual report of activities for the Volunteer Coordinator and Firefighter Assistance programs; represent organization at federal, state and local meetings and prepare and deliver presentations to state officials or other management regarding program policies and practices; adopt rules and procedures for the program, effectively and efficiently implement, administer and manage the program pursuant to the rules determined by the State Fire Marshal.
Administers the Firefighter Assistance Grant Program; annually review grants for volunteer, and prioritize the annual award of grants to combination and volunteer fire departments demonstrating need as a result of participating in the annual Florida Fire Service Needs Assessment Survey; provides grant administrative support for logistical grants in the form of technical advice to management relating to applicable State rules and regulations; identifies grant opportunities for volunteer fire departments in addition to the Firefighter Assistance grant program; performs complex procurement of goods and services; coordinates quotes, RFQ’s RFP’s for equipment necessary to support the grant program as required; assists in the evaluation and recommendations for the purchase of new equipment (per F.A.C 69A- to the grant program; procure necessary firefighter personal protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus equipment and fire engine pumper apparatus equipment; negotiate and establish contracts with vendors.
Prepares advertisements and information releases in support of volunteer fire departments and the Firefighter Assistance grant program and responds to inquiries regarding the online Firefighter I and grant program.
