Requirements:
- Florida Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance per Florida Statute 633.
- Florida Fire Service Instructor II per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.059.
- Fire Officer II per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.065.
- Florida Live Fire Instructor I per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.406 or willing to obtain within one year of hire per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.406.
- Willing to obtain Florida Fire Service Instructor III per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.059 within one year from date of hire.
- Willing to obtain Florida Fire Officer III per Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.065 within one year from date of hire.
- Ten (10) years’ experience working as a supervisor / manager in the fire service.
- Six (6) years’ experience evaluating fire service personnel and administrative staff.
- Must meet NFPA 1582 (physical) and maintain that status during employment.
Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in fire service, fire administration, or fire science management.
- Knowledge of the national accreditation/reaccreditation programs and systems (ProBoard and IFSAC).
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position is in Ocala, Florida and will be hired at an annual salary of $58,000.08.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge in the national accreditation/reaccreditation programs and systems (ProBoard / IFSAC).
- Knowledge in the Florida State Administrative Code, Florida Statutes, and fire service policies/procedures.
- Knowledge of firefighting tactics and strategies.
- Skill in written and verbal communications.
- Skill in the ability to motivate, inspire, and guide a team toward goals.
- Skill in team building and delegation of tasks.
- Skill in problem-solving, time management, conflict resolution, and decision-making

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Supervises a staff of field representatives (full-time and OPS) and support personnel (full-time and OPS) who are responsible for the certification and re-certification of firefighters, fire instructors, fire inspectors, investigators and a variety of other fire related disciplines, reviews and approves documentation of training academy facility evaluations/inspections, provide written and verbal communication to employees and constituents, provide employees and constituents with decisions that are sound and timely, and mentor and guide employees.
Oversight of ProBoard/IFSAC accreditation / reaccreditation program, submit “Change in Process and Extension in Accreditation" as necessary, work closely with ProBoard / IFSAC members, attend annual ProBoard conference, and maintain NFPA standards / update schedule.
Represents the Bureau at administrative hearings, speaks at conferences, seminars, clubs and other organizations as requested, provide oversight for the firefighter supplemental compensation program, and performs other related duties as required.
Assists in the development and coordination of uniform standards for the certification, employment, examination, and training of firefighters and the investigation and enforcement of those standards.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Bureau Chief.
