Distributed Computer Systems Specialist
This is data processing technical work installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple distributed computer systems for use by end-users including the hardware, software and communications components of distributed systems; This position does require travel to remote sites and some heavy lifting.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides technical assistance, customer service and guidance to users utilizing 'standard' and 'non-standard' information system hardware and software.
- Supports the use of office automation software, e-mail, computers and associated peripherals.
- Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge of all microcomputer hardware and software resources within Management Systems and applies knowledge gained through experience and training.
- Performs installation, relocation, and testing of 'standard' and 'non-standard' computer software, hardware and associated peripherals and miscellaneous support items.
- Maintains a complete accurate inventory of all hardware and software resources within the agency. Coordinates moves, distribution of new software and hardware throughout the agency.
- Performs minimal repairs on label printers, network printers, and desktop printers. Troubleshoots & documents procedures for installation of new software or hardware.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required to achieve the overall mission of the department.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
- Knowledge of distributed processing and office automation operations, procedures and equipment.
- Skill with PC software and hardware support and troubleshooting.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively and identify and define user task needs.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Information Technology security practices and ability to effectively address confidential security incidents.
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more for moving and relocating information technology equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of work experience in a help desk or a technical support environment.
- 3-5 years of work experience troubleshooting hardware and software.
- High School Diploma
- Valid State of Florida Driver’s License
Other Desirable Qualifications:
- 1 or more years of experience working with computer imaging software and SCCM.
- 1 or more years of experience working with active directory.
- Any technical certifications including Microsoft, Cisco, A+, Network + etc.
