Minimum Qualifications:
4 years professional experience in a closely-related biological field or laboratory program is required.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences can substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefernce may be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or univeristy with a major in one of the biological sciences.
Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of fish biology and fisheries-dependent data collection or experience with SAS or similar statistical software.
Requirements:
Employment in this position is contingent upon a successful Level 1 background check at no cost to the candidate prior to hire.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This is an OPS position, located in St. Petersburg, which supports Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) scientists within the Fishery Dependent Monitoring subsection. The position requires processing and cataloguing biological samples collected from recreational and commercial fisheries and assisting with data entry and QA/QC to ensure data quality.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Marine Fish identification.
Experience with data entry software and Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to assess data accuracy and perform quality control checks.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team with minimum supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to apply problem-solving techniques.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
