Position Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida. We are seeking to hire a Government Analyst I who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment.
This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Data Analytics. Join Data Analytics as we gather, explore, and examine data to provide meaningful and impactful analysis that shapes the future of Florida Medicaid. As the Agency hub for analytics, reporting, and visualization, the Bureau of Medicaid Data Analytics examines critical aspects of Floridians’ health, health care services and costs, and is vital to managed care rate setting, health care economics, and health plan evaluation.
This position is responsible for providing consultive services to the Senior Management Analyst Supervisor. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the preparation and analysis of data for the Medicaid program. The incumbent will:
Prepare, develop, reconcile, and analyze data regarding Medicaid expenditures, and other data produced by the Agency for Federal reporting purposes. Actively ensure data integrity, accuracy, identify discrepancies and participate in peer review process.
Conduct quarterly internal reviews of expenditures data for all quarterly CMS 64 data in preparation for PERM (Payment Error Rate Measurement) audits with the Bureau of Financial Services or any other expenditure reviews assigned by Management. Prepare and conduct Analysis for the CMS 372 data reporting. Prepare, review and analyze data for reporting with the Florida Health Care Connections (FX) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
Serve on committees and teams in unit assigned projects, assist with the review of PERM (Payment Error Rate Measurement) audits with the Bureau of Financial Services when inquiries are received from the Bureau of Medicaid Quality PERM Coordinator or CMS. Assist with audit research and coordination of data as it relates to PERM inquiries. As well as assisting the Bureau of Financial Services with the preparation of responses for financial expenditure audit findings that will be routed to MDA management review before forwarding response to the PERM Coordinator
Maintain up-to-date knowledge concerning the Florida Medicaid Program, including Florida State Plan for Medicaid, Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, pertinent Federal laws and regulations, and FX EDW.
Review of legislative bills and amendments to identify issues that would affect Medicaid waivers; and ensure timely submission of review results to the Unit Manager. Maintain knowledge of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) complaint regulations, including medical procedural and diagnosis codes, electronic claim submission formats and proper security of Protected Health Information (PHI). Participate in continuing education of Medicaid and other Agency functions.
Provide assistance in responding to inquiries and external requests related to Federal Reporting. Keep electronic documentation on CMS reporting and data analysis.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities at the direction of the Unit Manager or their designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
•1 year of experience in health care economics or analysis.
•1 year of experience of data analysis review, as it relates to compiling and composing of findings.
•1 year of experience utilizing Excel, conducting statistical and data analysis.
•Additional experience working with large data sets can substitute for specific health care data experience.
•A bachelors’ degree in data analytics, mathematics, statistics, or related field can substitute for one year of professional experience is preferred.
