SPECIAL NOTES:
Two (2) years of professional experience involving workers’ compensation claims is preferred. An associates degree from an accredited college or university may substitute the preferred experience.
Additional preferences:
- Six (6) months’ experience in a position requiring the processing of medical payments or knowledge of medical terms.
- Six (6) months’ experience in working with workers’ compensation claims in any capacity.
- Six (6) months’ experience in customer service and providing information to callers.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

This position is in our office in Tallahassee, FL . The work hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to examine and evaluate data relating to a workers’ compensation program.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to a workers’ compensation program.
- Ability to conduct fact finding investigations.
- Handle telephone calls in a fast, courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to work independently, utilizing problem solving techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to prepare and maintain reports.
- Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position assists workers’ compensation specialist with reviewing and evaluating medical-only workers’ compensation claims, processing and paying medical and legal bills associated with workers’ compensation claims and reviewing workers’ compensation First Report of Injury forms.
