Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervise Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Training staff, including communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work. Manage section functions including budget, personnel actions, and any necessary administrative duties. Research new technology and industry trends to expand personal knowledge of computer hardware, CADD software, and CADD training by attending meetings, conferences, peer exchanges, and workshops. Make presentations when required. Report activities and progress to management as required.
Facilitate the statewide CADD training program, including participation in management of training contracts, user training needs assessment, and the development of training resources. Provide CADD training using various methods such as: GOTO Meetings, Conferences, and Webinars. Coordinate in-person district CADD training; including establishing schedule, location, logistics, equipment, attendees. Provide oversite for the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) CADD training program to assure consistency with current Department practice
Assist in development and testing changes to standard operating procedures for software applications. Work with CADD Development staff to resolve issues found during testing before the CADD software is released. Test new software released by vendors, reporting issues through proper channels so they may be addressed in future releases. Create training curriculum and materials used for both CADD standards and instruction, including producing and posting training webinars.
Support other office’s special projects and initiatives by providing expertise regarding CADD requirements software application. Serve as group lead on special projects when assigned, keeping management informed of project schedule, budget, issues, and status.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
- Knowledge of the Department's Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and standards.
- Knowledge of Department Leadership principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Department Supervisory policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Department’s policies and procedures necessary to hold and use a State Purchasing VISA Card.
Skills in:
- Skill in using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments.
- Skill in using CADD hardware and software.
Ability to:
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data.
- Ability to solve problems relating to engineering. Ability to perform engineering inspections.
- Ability to apply engineering quantitative techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
