We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PCB Designer to join our Hardware Engineering team. You will play a crucial role in translating electrical designs into high-quality printed circuit boards for our cutting-edge wearable devices. You will work closely with electrical engineers to ensure that our PCBs meet the demanding requirements of performance, reliability, and miniaturization.
What You'll Do:
- PCB Layout Design: Create detailed PCB layouts from schematics, considering signal integrity, power distribution, thermal management, and manufacturability.
- Schematic Capture: Assist electrical engineers in schematic capture and component selection.
- Component Placement: Optimize component placement for density, signal routing, and thermal performance.
- Routing: Perform complex routing of high-speed digital and analog signals.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Ensure designs adhere to DFM guidelines and work closely with manufacturing partners to refine your designs.
- Stack-up Design: Define PCB stack-up to meet impedance control and signal integrity requirements.
- Gerber Generation: Generate and review Gerber files and other manufacturing documentation.
- Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews to ensure quality and identify potential issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and firmware engineers.
- Library Management: Maintain and organize PCB component libraries.
This is a US onsite role, candidates must be based in the San Diego region for this opportunity.
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- 5+ years of experience as a PCB Designer, preferably in consumer electronics or wearable devices.
- Proficiency in PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or similar.
- Strong understanding of state of the art PCB fabrication processes, design rules, and materials.
- Knowledge of signal integrity principles and techniques.
- Experience with high-density, multi-layer PCB and flex design.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with rigid-flex PCB design.
- Experience with HDI (High-Density Interconnect) technology.
- Experience with component library management systems.
- Experience working with PDM/PLM systems (ie. Teamcenter, Agile)
- Familiarity with IPC standards.

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
- San Diego Compensation Range: $130,000 - $187,000
