Join Our Dynamic Team as an Administrative Assistant to the Warden! This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Salary: $36,230.74 Annually

JOB DUTIES:
Are you ready to take on a pivotal role that supports the leadership of our correctional facility? This is your chance to make a significant impact by providing top-notch administrative assistance to the Warden. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Be the Warden's Right Hand: Dive into research, gather crucial data, and prepare insightful written and statistical reports. Your guidance will help shape staff projections and recommendations, and you'll have the autonomy to draw independent conclusions.
- Craft Key Communications: Review, analyze, and draft interoffice memos, correspondence, DC-mail messages, and confidential materials for the Warden's approval. Your words will help steer the direction of our facility.
- Data Guru: Compile and record essential statistical data and reports for the Warden's review. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Public and Staff Liaison: Interact with the public and staff with tact and courtesy. You'll be the go-to person for interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and you'll refer questions to the Warden as needed.
- Meeting Maestro: Provide vital information to department heads about meetings, conferences, and seminars. Keep the Warden's calendar organized and ensure smooth scheduling for training vehicles and office events.
- Report Compiler Extraordinaire: Gather data from department heads and create comprehensive bi-weekly and monthly reports for the Warden's review and approval, then forward them to the Regional Director.
- Mail Management Pro: Open, date, and distribute daily mail for the Warden. Coordinate with the mail room to ensure timely processing of outgoing mail and distribute important DC rules, Adopted Rules, and Policy & Procedure Directives.
- Phone Etiquette Expert: Answer the phone promptly and professionally. Screen and transfer calls to the appropriate personnel or accurately take and transmit messages without delay.
- Meeting Minutes Maven: Take, transcribe, and distribute minutes of meetings conducted by the Warden. Your notes will be the official record of important discussions.
- File and Finance Whiz: Maintain all office files and documents accurately, securely, and up-to-date. You'll also handle the collection, accountability, and internal control of cash, receipts, and disbursements in line with accounting principles.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
The Level 2 background check includes fingerprinting for state and federal criminal records and may also include local criminal records checks.
According to Florida law (S. 110.1127(1)), this position requires a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
