Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a highly responsible and independent position requiring professional judgment and knowledge to direct the day-to-day activities involved in administration and coordination of the Dental Program.
This position, an employee of the Nassau County Health Department (NCHD), works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. The employee is expected to promote innovation by searching for creative solutions and managing resources wisely. May operate a vehicle in and around the Nassau County area as part of their role.
- Develops and administers dental program budget within the framework of the strategic plan.
- Monitors clinic expenditures to remain within approved budgets.
- Coordinates all dental department purchasing and interfaces with Nassau CHD purchasing office, assesses budgetary needs, develops bid packages and purchase orders.
- Coordinates departmental equipment purchases, installation and clinic renovations/construction.
- Certifies invoices for payment and utilizes a state purchasing card within DOH guidelines.
- Reviews administrative policies and operational procedures; identifies potential problems; recommends appropriate action.
- Serves as or delegate Information Custodian role for Dental Records.
- Coordinates School Based Sealant Program and manages any associated funding grants.
- Serves as the data manager for the Florida SEALS program and provides training, technical assistance to dental staff using the program.
- Completes required school-based sealant reports.
- Coordinates a county dental health education program; provides information to teacher’s nurses and aides in schools, clinics and nursing homes; and aids and information to school board and county administration in dental health education.
- Coordinates activities related to evaluation of preventive programs involving the use of topical fluorides to community groups, schools, day cares and geriatric centers; interprets policies, procedures and standards for implementation of fluoride programs; schedules visits to help determine information needs; and provides information to in-house staff.
- Chairs and participates in work groups and committees as a Senior CHD Leader.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

and prevention of disease.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.
- Current Florida Department of Health employee, in a Selected Exempt Service (SES), Career Service (CS), or Other Personal Services (OPS) position.
- At least five years of clinical experience working in a Dental clinic or community setting.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Management or Health Science.
- Two years of supervisory experience in a Dental clinic/ program.
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience in a Dental clinic/program.
