Your Specific Responsibilities: This position is assigned to the Senior Community Health Nursing Director to perform Dental Hygiene in the Dental Clinic for the Florida Department of Health in Putnam County. The dental hygienist will be responsible for maintaining the dental preventive care in office, the School-Based Sealant Program in the public/private schools, and dental the health education program. The hygienist will engage in educating and treating patients presenting to the dental programs, and provide oral health care to members of the community. This position requires close interaction between patients, the dentist, and other dental staff. The ability to communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality, are key components of this position. The hygienist must be competent in preventive oral health & hygiene functions to include, dental prophylaxis, dental sealants, dental xrays, general scaling and root planing, and perio maintanence. The hygienist may be required to travel for outreach events within the County.
Degree/License/Certification: Must have an Associate Degree or its equivalent. Dental Hygiene License and Certification in Basic Life Support. (BASDH preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to work as a productive member of the dental team, receive constructive feedback, provide constructive feedback, have organizational initiative, proficiency in dental supplies & ordering, able to maintain self-guided efficiency and use good time management skills, work autonomously and has excellent customer service skills.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Must be skilled in placing dental sealants, Scaling and root planning and skilled in working independently.
Must possess a Florida Dental Hygiene License.
Must have experience placing sealants.
Must have a certification in Basic Life Support.
Graduate from a formal accredited dental hygiene school.
An understanding of dental operations, compliance and quality requirements related to the provision of dental care services.
Experience with pediatric patients, instrument sterilization, radiologic exam proficiency, providing patients with current oral hygiene instructions.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene
